3. Floating Hogwarts-Style Candles
Bring the magic of the Great Hall into your living room or entryway with floating candles that appear to defy gravity. This DIY project uses budget-friendly white or cream-colored pool noodles to create realistic, wax-dripping pillars that glow warmly in the dark. It is an incredibly atmospheric addition to any Halloween party or haunted house setup.
Cut your pool noodles into various heights to create visual interest. To mimic the look of melted wax cascading down the sides, generously apply hot glue around the top rim of each noodle, letting it run down the sides in thick droplets. Once the glue dries, paint the entire noodle with a coat of matte white or ivory acrylic paint. Push a battery-operated LED tea light into the top opening of each noodle; if the fit is loose, wedge a small piece of scrap foam inside to secure it. Thread monofilament fishing line through the sides of the noodle near the top and hang them from your ceiling using clear adhesive hooks. When the lights go down, the floating glow is absolutely spellbinding.
