This is one of the easiest and cheapest DIY projects available, utilizing cardboard tubes and simple glow sticks to create an incredibly effective jump scare.
Save cardboard toilet paper or paper towel rolls. Use a utility knife to cut out various shapes of menacing, animalistic eyes—slits, wide circles, or angry brow shapes—into the center of each tube. Activate a bright green, red, or blue glow stick and insert it inside the tube, then tape both ends of the roll shut with duct tape to keep the light concentrated. Tuck these tubes deep into your bushes, securing them between branches, so only the glowing eyes are visible through the dark foliage.
