6. Bubbling Cauldron with Expanding Foam
No witchy yard display is complete without a massive, bubbling cauldron cooking up a sinister brew. By using a large plastic tub, expanding insulation foam, and a few clever lighting tricks, you can create a highly realistic, overflowing potion that looks like it is actively boiling over onto your lawn. This three-dimensional prop serves as an excellent centerpiece for a front yard graveyard or a porch display.
Start with a large black plastic bucket or storage tub. Invert it or keep it upright, and spray cans of expanding gap-filler foam around the rim, letting it drip down the sides in thick, organic waves to simulate bubbling liquid. Once the foam dries, paint it with bright neon green, purple, or orange acrylic paint, adding highlights and shadows for depth. Cut a small hole in the back of the cauldron to insert a mini fog machine or a mist maker placed in a bowl of water, allowing real smoke to roll over the glowing, bubbly edges.
