7. Dripping Bleeding Tissue Paper Pumpkins

7

Put a unique, artistic twist on classic pumpkin carving by creating dripping, “bleeding” pumpkins using colorful tissue paper or melting crayons. This project is highly engaging for crafters of all ages and avoids the messy cleanup of scooping out pumpkin guts. When placed on your porch steps, these vibrant, textured pumpkins catch the light beautifully and offer a modern, eye-catching alternative to traditional jack-o’-lanterns.

Take faux white craft pumpkins or real white pumpkins for the best color contrast. Cut out small circles or strips of red, purple, and black tissue paper. Apply a layer of outdoor-safe decoupage glue (like Mod Podge) to the pumpkin, place the tissue paper down, and paint over it with more glue, letting the colors bleed and run down the ridges of the pumpkin. Alternatively, glue red crayons around the stem of a white pumpkin and use a hair dryer on high heat to melt them, letting the wax drip down the sides like fresh, glossy blood.
