11. Reclaimed Wood Coffin Planter

11

Add a touch of gothic elegance to your garden with a life-sized coffin planter made from reclaimed pallet wood. This rustic, weathered structure serves as a fantastic focal point for a Halloween yard display. You can fill it with dead branches, faux autumn flowers, or even a skeleton trying to claw its way out. It is a fantastic woodworking project that can be reused year after year as a planter or a spooky storage chest.

Dismantle old wooden pallets and sand them slightly, leaving the rough texture, nail holes, and natural weathering intact. Cut the boards to form the classic hexagonal coffin shape, screwing them together from the inside with sturdy L-brackets. You can stain the wood a dark charcoal grey or leave it natural for a sun-bleached, abandoned look. Place the coffin slightly propped open on your lawn, fill the interior with soil, dark purple mums, and creeping vines, and position a skeletal hand emerging from the dirt.
