4. Spooky Chicken Wire Lawn Ghosts
Create the illusion of ethereal, life-sized spirits wandering through your misty front lawn using nothing more than chicken wire. These translucent, structural sculptures are incredibly haunting because they are virtually invisible during the day but catch the moonlight and outdoor spotlights beautifully at night. Because they are hollow, they have a surreal, weightless quality that makes them look like real apparitions floating across your grass.
To construct your lawn ghost, mold a roll of flexible poultry netting (chicken wire) around a mannequin, a friend, or even your own body to form a human shape. Focus on creating a realistic head, neck, and shoulders, then let the bottom of the wire flare out into a flowing, tattered gown that touches the grass. Spray paint the finished sculpture with a light coat of glow-in-the-dark or metallic white paint. Secure them to the ground with tent stakes so they don’t blow away, and position an uplight at the base to make them glow intensely.
