19. Bleached Pinecone and Charcoal Display

19

Create a beautiful, textural display that celebrates the transition of seasons with bleached pinecones and charcoal accents. Bleaching pinecones removes their dark brown color, leaving them with a gorgeous, weathered driftwood shade that looks incredibly chic. To bleach pinecones, submerge dry pinecones in a bucket of household bleach for 24 hours (make sure to do this in a well-ventilated area). The pinecones will close up while wet, but they will reopen beautifully as they dry in the sun over a few days.

Once dry, arrange these pale, neutral pinecones in a large wooden bowl or a glass hurricane vase. To create a striking visual contrast, mix them with pieces of natural black charcoal, dark river stones, and dried seed pods. This minimalist, earthy display brings the quiet beauty of the autumn forest indoors without relying on traditional, bright Halloween colors.
