6. Spooky Flying Bat Swarm on White Brick
Create a dynamic sense of movement across your fireplace with a classic 3D flying bat installation. This project is incredibly cost-effective yet delivers a massive visual impact, especially against a white or light-colored brick fireplace. Using black cardstock or weather-resistant PVC sheets, cut out dozens of bats in three to four different sizes. Gently fold the wings upward on both sides of the body to create a realistic three-dimensional shape. Using painter’s tape or poster putty, arrange the bats so they appear to be swarming up from the fireplace hearth, clustering densely across one side of the mantle, and scattering as they fly up the wall toward the ceiling.
