19. Textured Venetian Plaster Wall Finish
Venetian plaster creates a polished, marble-like stone finish with immense visual depth and a luxurious tactile smoothness. It reflects candlelight and morning sunlight beautifully, changing character throughout the day.
- How to Make It: Apply a base coat of tinted Venetian plaster using a flexible stainless steel trowel, holding the blade at a low angle to spread a thin, even layer. Once dry, apply a second burnished coat, pressing the trowel firmly against the wall at a sharp angle to compact the lime and create a high-sheen, mottled stone finish.
- Tips & Variations: Use a fine-grit sanding sponge lightly across the finished plaster surface to expose subtle tonal variations before sealing with a protective wax.
- Required Materials: Venetian plaster compound, stainless steel plastering trowel, fine-grit sanding sponge, and protective wall wax.
